ROOTS & WINGS TM   QI GONG

“We need roots because we are physical, we need wings because we are spiritual”

We stand and walk every day throughout life. When we were small and had to take the first step out into the world, we struggled carefully to stand safely, every little move gave us a signal of the body relation to the outside world and the mind’s willingness to perform this action. Over the years we have forgotten this important experience. In this course, the emphasis will be on simple standing and walking Qi Gong exercises, where we challenge ourselves to conquer the forgotten child in us, whom experienced and expressed the essence of life by living in the present.

Roots & Wings Qi Gong Course Level 1:

  • Eight Pieces of Silk Brocade (Ba Duan Jin)- Introductory warm-up exercises
  • Standing Still Qi Gong Exercises
  • Walking Qi Gong Exercises

Between a static and a forward motion, we listen and move very gently and slowly, in unison with our breath. The body follows this pattern in a natural way. The foot moves in line with fire (the foot is lifted), air (the foot moves forward), water (the heel touches down) and earth (the foot is put down). When we move, we are not bound by time, thoughts and the body’s limitations, we walk, and walk with the one thousand and one things. Nose follows navel, eyes witness.

ABOUT QI GONG
Qi Gong comes from China and the word Qi Gong also called Chi Kung, consists of Qi which in a broader context means the universal energy, including heat, light and electromagnetic energy, and in a more limited definition, the energy circulating in humans and animals.
